2019 CRUISE INDUSTRY AWARD CATEGORIES, NOMINATION PROCEDURE AND JUDGING CRITERIA
TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY AWARD, ALL TRAVEL AGENT/AGENCY NOMINEES MUST BE A CURRENT CLIA MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING

CLIA AGENCY OF THE YEAR AWARDS:
CLIA TRAVEL AGENCY AWARDS ARE NOMINATED BY CLIA CRUISE LINES ONLY AND THE TOP 5 FINALISTS IN EACH CATEGORY WILL BE ASKED TO PROVIDE A SUBMISSION OUTLINING WHY THEY SHOULD WIN. AN INDEPENDENT JUDGING PANEL WILL ASSESS FINALIST APPLICATIONS AND SCORE EACH ENTRY TO SELECT THE WINNER.

Small Cruise Agency of the Year – Australia / NZ - This award recognises the top small travel agency which has demonstrated innovation in their approach to promoting cruise travel and growing their cruise travel sales, shown ability to update marketing/sales strategies in order to elevate their industry profile and demonstrate expertise, and has shown a commitment to improving their agents’ skill set by providing agents with comprehensive educational tools and opportunities, resulting in demonstrated growth in cruise travel sales and volume over the prior 12 months. For the purposes of this award a small travel agency is an agency that operates under one brand out of a single location.

Large Cruise Agency of the Year – Australia / NZ - This award recognises the top large agency or network travel agency which has demonstrated innovation in their approach to promoting cruise travel and growing their cruise travel sales, implementing marketing and sales strategies across their group/network in order to elevate their industry profile and demonstrate expertise, and has shown a commitment to improving their agents’ skill set by providing agents with comprehensive educational tools and opportunities, resulting in demonstrated growth in cruise travel sales and volume over the prior 12 months. For the purposes of this award a large travel agency is an agency that operates under more than one brand or out of multiple locations.

Online Cruise Agency of the Year – Australia / NZ - This award recognises the top online travel agency which has demonstrated innovation in their approach to promoting cruise travel online and growing their online  cruise travel sales, leveraging technology to deliver their marketing/sales strategies to drive their industry profile and demonstrate expertise, and has shown a commitment to improving their agents’ skill set by providing agents with comprehensive educational tools and opportunities, resulting in demonstrated growth in cruise travel sales and volume over the prior 12 months

Nominate an Agency of the Year (Cruise Lines only)

CLIA AGENT AND BROKER AWARDS:
CLIA TRAVEL AGENT AWARD NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN TO CRUISE LINE, PEER OR SELF NOMINATION WITH JUSTIFICATION REQUIRED. THE FINALISTS WILL BE SELECTED BASED ON NOMINATION CRITERIA AS WELL AS CLIA TRAINING & ENGAGEMENT. 

Home Based Cruise Agent  / Broker of the Year – Australia / NZ - This award recognises a homebased or mobile consultant/broker who has demonstrated success in their field, has proven sales performance and shows dedication to learning and self-improvement, having good relationships with cruise suppliers, and a clear demonstration of industry engagement.

Cruise Consultant of the Year – Australia / NZ - This award recognises a cruise consultant who has demonstrated success in their field, shows a drive to excel, can demonstrate how they have successfully driven cruise sales for their agency, and shows dedication to learning and self-improvement, having good relationships with suppliers, and a clear demonstration of industry engagement.

Rising Star – Australia / NZ - This award recognises consultants who have worked in the industry for less than 2 years and who have shown tremendous achievements in this short time. Finalists will be asked to provide details on how they have developed their skills and their drive for excellence, and provide a brief profile including significant achievements and accomplishments. Rising stars finalists will be asked to briefly describe their future aspirations within the travel industry and what steps they are taking to achieve them. CLIA Accreditation points and engagement over the previous 12 month period will be considered in determining finalists.

Cruise Champion – This award recognises an individual travel agent who actively champions on behalf of the cruise industry. Nominees will be asked to explain and provide examples of how they embody CLIA’s mission of educating, advocating and promoting the cruise industry. Nominees will be asked to provide evidence of a well thought-out and executed initiative or short case study which demonstrates how they embody CLIA’s mission.

CLIA PROMOTION OF THE YEAR AWARDS:
THE FOLLOWING AWARD CATEGORIES ARE OPEN TO CRUISE LINE, PEER OR SELF NOMINATION WITH JUSTIFICATION REQUIRED. 

Agency Cruise Promotion of the Year Australia / NZ - Submissions must be based on consumer cruise promotions undertaken by a travel agency or Individual member of CLIA during 2019 that features CLIA Cruise Line Member product and will be judged on the overall strategy and success of a specific cruise campaign. Nominations will be judged based on the information provided with the submission, according to the following criteria:

•    Objectives of the campaign 
•    Overall planning 
•    Target market 
•    Form of promotion
•    Level of investment 
•    Brand awareness achieved 
•    Duration of campaign 
•    Results and how they were assessed 
•    Supporting material

Network Cruise Promotion of the Year Australasia - Submissions must be based on consumer cruise promotions undertaken by a travel agency network or cluster of multiple stores during 2019 that features CLIA Cruise Line Member product and will be judged on the overall strategy and success of a specific cruise campaign. Nominations will be judged based on the information provided with the submission, according to the following criteria:

•    Objectives of the campaign 
•    Overall planning 
•    Target market 
•    Form of promotion
•    Level of investment 
•    Brand awareness achieved 
•    Duration of campaign 
•    Results and how they were assessed 
•    Supporting material

Cruise Month Promotion of the Year Australasia - Submissions must be based on a consumer promotion during the 2019 Cruise Month campaign. Nominations will be judged based on the information provided with the submission, according to the following criteria:

•    Creativity and originality of the campaign
•    Use of traditional promotional activity and/or new media (including social media)
•    Effort to promote cruising as a holiday choice
•    Effort to stimulate cruise bookings 
•    Use of official Cruise Month branding (logos, toolkit materials, theme weeks and #’s)

CLIA MEDIA AWARD:
THE MEDIA AWARD IS OPEN TO SELF NOMINATION. 

Media Award – CLIA Australasia’s annual Media Award aims to recognise the high standards of cruising journalism in print and electronic media across Australia and New Zealand. Submission of stories or broadcasts that champion the cruise industry will be accepted from freelance and staff journalists from mainstream, online and trade media outlets. Only one entry permitted per journalist. Submissions will be judged on the following criteria: 

•    Champion the cruise industry
•    Demonstrate creativity and originality
•    Comprise at least 800 words
•    Published during the 2019 calendar year - if based on a cruise experience it must be within an 18-month period prior to publication and based on a CLIA cruise line product.

CLIA HALL OF FAME AWARD:
THIS AWARD IS NOMINATED BY CLIA CRUISE LINES AND VOTED BY CLIA AUSTRALASIA’S EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Hall of Fame Award - The CLIA Hall of Fame Award is a formal recognition to honour an individual whose efforts and accomplishments represent a significant contribution to the development of the Australasian cruise industry. This award is intended to encourage excellence and innovation whilst identifying and acknowledging someone who has also supported and encouraged others and gone beyond the call of duty.
